Eric Hoppe from Germany clinched a gold medal in the category.

My parents always had faith in me. My friends in the Bhilai- Chhattisgarh also supported me. The only thing I didn’t like was the look on people’s faces when they realised that I have Right weak arms without finger. These medals prove that I am special. These medals are not just mine, but of the whole country.

I included one Bronze medals and a silver at the Para-Armwrestling World Championship held in Kazakhstan in September and Asia Championship at U.A.E this year.

Myself shrimant Jha I am International Para-Athlete from Chhattisgarh, i started Arm-wrestling Since 2007.Mr. Shrimant Jha, a 27-yr old Arm-Wrestler who never let his fate deviate his ambitions! A differently-abled, who took birth with four fingers in both hands still I won 43 International Medal for India. Contentiously 13 Times Gold Medalist In India. I got 3rd rank in World Championship and 1st rank in Asian Championship. I completed My Study From Government Polytechnic in Mechanical and B tech In mechanical. Now I am Working In jindal Steel And Power As a Engineer from Last 10 Year. In my family 5 member Including me. Mother is House Wife, Father working Private Job , Sister are Married, We are Twin Bro he is working in Adidas.

The path to success is not an easy road; there will be sweat, tears and blood along the way. This is not only a saying but also a hard reality of life.

I have done diploma in mechanical from Government College and after completing diploma I tried for campus placement but unfortunately I got rejected because of my disability even though I was good in studies and hard working.

I did not give up and tried again hence got the opportunity to join Jindal steel power limited in 2011 and I worked there as an engineer. Also while working I have completed my B.TECH.

I was in 10th grade and wanted to participate in the Inter-School Football Championship. I got the 22nd position out of 200 players but had to leave it as I was handicapped. And this was the moment which provoked me to work even harder and prove everybody wrong. I decided to represent my country at an international level and win it. I did it, yes there were obstacles, be it physically, mentally or emotionally. So, I prepared myself and then rest is all history!”

I did not let my physical deformity come in my way and has been arm-wrestling since 2009. I used to play arm wrestling at school level and also got selected for the national level football team but got rejected again under 19 due to physical disability.

Then again my parents supported me very much. My dream was to serve my country and join the army but was not qualified because of this deformity, so I decided to play for the country and started my preparation for arm wrestling and also won a GOLD medal at state level championship.

In 2014, his mother had to sell her jewelry for Rs 60,000 to send Shrimant to Poland where he had won a silver for India in the world championship. “Despite clearing several rounds in campus selection, I have been denied job opportunities. When people look at my hands they make faces and turn away. I feel heartbroken but have learnt to keep it to myself,” he says. His father was an employee with an iron wool making company but lost his job during lay-offs. His mother is a housewife. Shrimant keeps all his disappointments, struggles and sorrows to himself.

It hasn’t been easy for Shrimant since school days. He was keen on playing football and cleared one level after another only to be rejected because of his non-functional right hand. It was extremely demotivating for a STD 8 student afflicting him with hopelessness and despair. After his family and friends motivated him, he joined gym nearby where he learnt about para armwrestling. He has been practicing since them, getting better every month and his national and international medals reflect that.

Weak financial condition at home has left him in no state to throw tantrums. His diet is the simple mom-cooked food which is roti, sabzi, dal, chawal. On this, he practices for 3-4 hours everyday – this he does after a day-long office where he works under the quality assurance department.
