Passenger finds fungus in yoghurt served on Vande Bharat train; Railway reacts

New Delhi: A man travelling via the Vande Bharat Express from Dehradun to Anand Vihar in Delhi was disappointed to discover that the yoghurt which was served to him as part of his meal on the train was infected with fungus. Harshad Topkar, an X user, posted his complaint tagging the official accounts of the Ministry of Railways, Northern Railway and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Soon after Harshad complained on March 5, Indian Railways responded to his post.

The passenger, Harshad Topkar, made his complaint public by tagging the official accounts of the Ministry of Railways, Northern Railway, and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on March 5. The yoghurt was contaminated with fungus, as is clear from the images that accompanied his post.

“Travelling on Vande Bharat from Dehradun to Anand Vihar in the executive class today. Found greenish layer most probably fungus in the yoghurt served. This is not expected from the Vande Bharat service,” Harshad said in his post.

Indian Railways promptly responded to his complaint. Harshad also posted pictures of the contaminated yogurt, which was served to him in the Executive Class of Vande Bharat during his journey from Dehradun to Anand Vihar.

Northern Railway responded to Harshad’s complaint and requested the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to look into the matter. This incident adds to the growing complaints about food quality on Vande Bharat trains.

Several Vande Bharat passengers have complained about the food served on the train in the recent past. In January, a man travelling via the Vande Bharat Express from New Delhi to Varanasi alleged that stale food was served to him and others during the journey.
