PM Modi Encourages First-Time Voters in Madhya Pradesh, Urges High Voter Turnout in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to first-time voters in Madhya Pradesh as polling commenced for the 230-member Assembly. In addition, he urged voters to actively participate in the second phase of polling for 70 seats in the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly.

Polling for the second phase in Chhattisgarh began at 8 am and will continue until 3 pm, while voting in nine polling stations of Bindranavagarh Assembly constituency is scheduled from 7 am to 3 pm.

For Chhattisgarh, over 18,800 polling stations have been set up, with a total of 958 candidates contesting across the 70 seats.

While Madhya Pradesh is undergoing polling in a single phase, Chhattisgarh witnessed the first phase for 20 seats on November 7.

Taking to his official handle on the social media platform X, PM Modi expressed confidence in voters from every region of Madhya Pradesh participating enthusiastically in this festival of democracy. He specially greeted the youth voting for the first time in this election.

In another post, PM Modi emphasized the significance of the second and final round of voting for the Chhattisgarh Assembly, urging all voters to turn out in record numbers. He stressed that every vote is essential in upholding democratic traditions and practices.

Voting for all 230 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh commenced at 7 am on Friday, with the exception of specific seats and booths where polling will conclude at 3 pm. The BJP aims to retain power in the state, having ruled for nearly 18 of the past 20 years, while the Congress seeks to oust the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.

Webcasting is available at approximately 42,000 polling stations, and extensive security measures, including nearly 700 companies of central forces and two lakh state police personnel, have been implemented.

The election will determine the fate of over 2,500 candidates, with nearly 5.59 crore voters eligible to participate. The polls, crucial for both the BJP and Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, will conclude on December 3 with the counting of votes for the five states, including Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram.
