PM Modi states Opposition bloc was formed for selfish reasons and people still hold resentment against them

In an effort to boost the morale within the NDA (National Democratic Alliance), Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed Members of Parliament from the ruling alliance, urging them to differentiate between the BJP-led NDA and the Opposition’s newly formed INDIA bloc. He emphasized that the NDA was established with a genuine “cause” and not driven by “selfish reasons.”

Modi assured the MPs not to be distracted by the INDIA grouping, pointing out that people still harbor resentment (nafrat) against those parties due to their past “sins of corruption and misgovernance.”

Speaking to the first group of NDA MPs at Maharashtra Sadan, which consisted of approximately 45 MPs from western Uttar Pradesh up to Kanpur-Bundelkhand region, Modi referred to instances where the BJP prioritized the NDA’s collective interests. He highlighted the BJP’s decision to support Nitish Kumar as the chief minister of Bihar despite having more numbers in the Assembly after the 2020 state elections. Additionally, he mentioned the party’s stance in not seeking the post of Deputy CM in the coalition government with SAD (Shiromani Akali Dal) in Punjab. The Prime Minister urged the MPs to work together to ensure the NDA’s return to power in the 2024 elections.

The BJP has divided the NDA MPs into region-wise clusters of around 40 members each, and Modi is expected to address them separately during the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament.

During the meeting, Modi encouraged the MPs to engage with their constituencies, address local issues, and communicate the government’s achievements to the people. He advised them to avoid discussing or commenting on national or international matters. The Prime Minister emphasized that even small issues can be significant game-changers in elections and encouraged them to make the most of social media platforms to reach a broader audience.

To illustrate the power of a viral video, Modi mentioned an example from the run-up to the Uttarakhand Assembly polls. He shared a video clip featuring a woman expressing her confidence in her son, who lives in Delhi and would take care of her, referring to Modi. According to the PM, that video became a “game-changer” in the 2022 state elections, contributing to the BJP’s impressive victory.

Modi urged the MPs to deliver a positive message about the government’s work and advised them to spend ample time interacting with the people.

On a separate occasion, the Prime Minister attended another meeting of NDA MPs from West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand at the Parliament annexe.
