Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been named for the first time in an Enforcement Directorate (ED) chargesheet, which also includes NRI businessman CC Thampi and British national Sumit Chadha. While Priyanka Gandhi and her husband, Robert Vadra, have not been listed as accused, their involvement in certain land transactions has come under scrutiny.
Officials disclosed that Robert Vadra had acquired approximately 40.8 acres of land in Amipur village, Faridabad, between 2006 and 2006. The land transactions were facilitated through property dealer HL Pahwa, who has close ties to Thampi. Notably, this land was subsequently sold back to Pahwa in December 2010, raising questions about the nature and purpose of these transactions.
In a related development, a property was acquired in the name of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the same Amipur village in April 2006. However, it was later sold back to HL Pahwa in February 2010. This sequence of land transactions has prompted ED officials to delve deeper into the financial connections between the involved parties.
Sources close to the investigation revealed that HL Pahwa shares a significant relationship with CC Thampi. Pahwa reportedly influenced Thampi’s decision to acquire land in Amipur village, thereby establishing a financial connection that has come under ED’s scrutiny.
The emergence of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s name in connection with these land transactions underscores the complexity of the ongoing investigation. While the Congress leader has not been charged, her involvement has been flagged during the probe into the financial relationship between Thampi and Vadra.
