In the lead-up to the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, scheduled for June 1, political dynamics are shifting as key figures make significant moves. Among them is Parampal Kaur Sidhu, daughter-in-law of senior Akali Dal leader Sikandar Singh Maluka, whose recent decision to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sparked attention.

Punjab CM’s Response to Parampal Kaur’s Resignation

Following Parampal Kaur Sidhu’s resignation as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and her subsequent entry into the BJP, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann clarified that the state government has not yet accepted her resignation. Sidhu’s resignation was submitted after her decision to join the BJP, but the government has yet to approve it, indicating procedural considerations.

In a statement posted on X, CM Mann emphasized the importance of adhering to resignation protocols, warning of potential consequences if procedures are not followed correctly. Despite Sidhu’s eagerness to pursue new endeavors, the CM stressed the need to understand and abide by resignation procedures to avoid risking one’s earnings.

About Parampal Kaur Sidhu

Parampal Kaur Sidhu, a 2011-batch IAS officer, recently tendered her resignation, fueling speculation about her political aspirations amidst the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. With plans to seek premature retirement, Sidhu’s move aligns with rumors suggesting her potential candidacy for the Bathinda Lok Sabha seat, currently held by Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

As the daughter-in-law of senior Akali Dal leader Sikandar Singh Maluka, Sidhu’s political affiliations hold significance, especially considering Maluka’s role in the SAD’s manifesto committee for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Amidst political maneuvering and shifting alliances, Sidhu’s decision to join the BJP adds a new dimension to Punjab’s electoral landscape.
