The Congress party has officially declared that Rahul Gandhi will embark on the ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ from January 14 to March 20, covering a vast stretch of 6,200 km from Manipur to Mumbai. This initiative follows the success of last year’s north-south ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ attributed to the party’s electoral victories in southern states.
The yatra is strategically planned to traverse 14 states, including Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The comprehensive route aims to connect with diverse regions and communities, culminating on March 20, strategically timed ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
K C Venugopal, AICC general secretary (Organisation), highlighted the significance of choosing Manipur as the starting point, emphasizing the state’s importance in the national context. The decision reflects the party’s commitment to initiating the healing process for the people of Manipur.
In comparison to the previous ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ which covered 4,500 km across 12 states from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, this edition is set to cover a more extensive 6,200 km, showcasing the party’s dedication to engaging with a broader spectrum of states.
The ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ will utilize a bus as its primary mode of transportation, with intermittent walking stretches. While the participation of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) parties is yet to be finalized, efforts are underway to collaborate on this ambitious journey.
As Rahul Gandhi embarks on this extensive yatra, the Congress party anticipates fostering connections with citizens across states, addressing local concerns, and building momentum leading up to the national elections.
