Rajasthan Congress Unveils Manifesto; Pledges Caste Census Ahead of State Assembly Election

On Tuesday, the Congress unveiled its manifesto for the Rajasthan assembly elections. The release event was attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajasthan party in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, State Party President Govind Singh Dotasra, Manifesto Committee Chairman CP Joshi, and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot at the state party office. The manifesto, titled ‘Jan Ghoshna Patra,’ was presented during the occasion.

In the Rajasthan election manifesto, the Congress has committed to introducing a new recruitment scheme at the panchayat level and conducting a caste census if the party regains power in the state.

“At the press conference, Gehlot expressed pride in our management of Rajasthan’s financial situation, emphasizing a notable 46.48% increase in per capita income. We aspire to secure the top position in per capita income by 2030. Notably, in 2020–21, the state GDP reached 19.50, marking the highest in the decade,” Gehlot stated.

Gehlot has already outlined seven “guarantees” or commitments to the citizens of Rajasthan in the event of the Congress securing reelection.

The seven “guarantees” encompass providing an annual honorarium of ₹10,000 to the female head of the family, offering LPG cylinders to 1.05 crore families at ₹500 each, purchasing dung from cattle rearers at ₹2 per kg, implementing a law for the reinstatement of the old pension scheme for government employees, furnishing students entering government colleges with a laptop or tablet, extending insurance coverage up to ₹15 lakh per family for losses incurred due to natural calamities, and ensuring school education in English medium.
