Rajasthan Suspends Two School Teachers Over Alleged ‘Love Jihad’ Charge

Rajasthan ,Kota : In a recent development, the Rajasthan government has suspended two school teachers, Mirza Mujahid and Firoz Khan, from a government-run school in Kota’s Sangod block. The suspension comes in the wake of allegations of their involvement in religious conversion and alleged ties to banned terror outfits. Another teacher, Shabana, is also under investigation in connection with the case, as announced by Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar.

The probe was prompted by a memorandum submitted by Sarva Hindu Samaj, accusing the teachers of engaging in activities related to religious conversion and propagating the controversial concept of ‘love jihad’ since 2019. ‘Love jihad’ is a conspiracy theory suggesting that Muslim men are enticing Hindu women to convert them to Islam. The memorandum further claimed that the teachers had connections with proscribed outfits and links to Pakistani groups.

According to the statement released by Minister Dilawar, an FIR had been previously registered at Sangod police station regarding these allegations, but no action was taken. The memorandum also asserted that a Hindu girl, initially registered as Muslim in the school record, was allegedly abducted by Muslim youths, and her whereabouts remain unknown.

Dilawar, in a video statement, emphasized that strict action has been initiated against the three teachers in a government senior secondary school at Khajuri Odpur village in Sangod. He stated, “A conspiracy of religious conversion and ‘love jihad’ is happening there, Hindu girls are being forced to offer namaz – this has come to our notice.”

The term ‘Love Jihad’ is not defined under current laws, as clarified by the Union home ministry in 2020. Minister Dilawar assured that if the teachers are found guilty, they will be terminated from their positions. “I will take strict action against them after a detailed investigation. If needed, I will expel them,” he added. The suspended teachers have been sent to Bikaner pending further investigation.
