Director Lokesh Kanagaraj recently unveiled the teaser for Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated film “Coolie,” formerly known as Thalaivar 171. The teaser pays homage to Rajinikanth’s iconic roles as a coolie in past films like Uzhaipaali, Mannan, and Mullum Malarum. Fans praised Kanagaraj’s ability to incorporate references to Rajinikanth’s illustrious career.
Notably, Coolie marks a departure from Kanagaraj’s cinematic universe, which includes Vikram, Kaithi, and Leo, making it the third standalone movie in his filmography after Maanagaram and Master.

Last month, Kanagaraj unveiled the first-look poster of Coolie, featuring Rajinikanth in a denim shirt bound by a chain of wristwatches against a grayscale backdrop. The inclusion of watches has sparked speculation about a potential time-travel narrative, with fans theorizing about connections to Suriya’s Rolex character.
Anirudh Ravichander is set to collaborate with Rajinikanth once again for Coolie, with renowned action choreographers Anbu-Arivu also on board. The film is being produced by Sun Pictures.
In addition to Coolie, Rajinikanth is also working on a project with TJ Gnanavel titled Vettaiyan, slated for release later this year.
