Ram Lalla Idol’s Ayodhya tour schedule for Jan 17 called off over crowd management concerns

Ayodhya: In a significant move, the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has decided to called off the planned procession of the new idol of Ram Lalla across Ayodhya city scheduled for January 17 ahead of the consecration ceremony which is set to be commenced on January 22. The tour would have allowed devotees to catch a glimpse of the new idol of Ram Lalla.

Instead, the trust will arrange a tour of the new idol inside the premises of the Ram Janmabhoomi on the same day (January 17), a senior functionary of the Trust said, citing crowd management concerns raised by the security agencies.

The city of Ayodhya, famous as the birthplace of Lord Ram in Hindu mythology, is abuzz with preparations for the historic consecration ceremony of the Ram temple. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to be in attendance at the ceremony, to be held on January 22, 2024, which marks the culmination of the centuries-long struggle by the Hindu community for the return of Shri Ram to the Ramjanmabhoomi.

The decision was taken by the officials of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust after a meeting with the Acharyas of Kashi and senior administrative officials.

According to the Ayodhya district administration, it was discussed in the meeting that it would be difficult to control the crowd as devotees and pilgrims will rush to have ‘darshan’ of the new idol of Ram Lalla when it is taken out in the city.

As the historic day approaches, Ayodhya is preparing to welcome thousands of dignitaries and guests from India and abroad with heightened security and logistical arrangements. The Ayodhya Development Authority is planting saplings and extinct trees of the Ramayana era across the city, adding to the spiritual atmosphere. Meanwhile, a Nagpur-based cook is preparing to prepare 7000 kg of special ‘Ram Halwa’ for the consecration ceremony using a 12,000 liter kadhai and ingredients like semolina, ghee, sugar, milk, water, dry fruits and cardamom powder.

The consecration ceremony, also known as the consecration of the idol of Ram Lalla, is set to be a grand spectacle that will capture the imagination of the nation and commemorate the centuries-long struggle for the return of Shri Ram to his birthplace. Will conclude. As the city prepares to host the massive event, the memory of martyrs like Bhagwan Singh Jat serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made to make this dream come true.
