Hyderabad: Anumula Revanth Reddy, the influential leader of the Telangana Congress credited for the party’s resounding victory in the November 30 Assembly polls, was sworn in today as the state’s second Chief Minister. The oath of office was administered by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan in a ceremony held at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad.
In addition to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, 11 members of his cabinet also took the oath, including Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka, appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister. Notably, former Telangana Congress chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who opposed Revanth Reddy’s selection as Chief Minister, was also part of the cabinet. The remaining eight members sworn in as ministers are Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Dana Anasuya, Tummala Nageswar Rao, Konda Surekha, and Jupally Krishna Rao.
Revanth Reddy made history by being sworn in as the first Congress Chief Minister of Telangana. The momentous ceremony witnessed the presence of the Gandhi family – Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra – along with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
Prior to taking the oath of office, Mr. Reddy and Mrs. Gandhi embarked on a victory lap inside the stadium in an open vehicle.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Shri Revanth Reddy on being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Telangana.
