RJD National Vice President Devendra Prasad Yadav Resigns from Party

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national vice-president and former Union minister Devendra Prasad Yadav has tendered his resignation from the party’s primary membership, citing concerns over the selection of candidates. In a strongly worded letter addressed to RJD president Lalu Prasad, Yadav expressed dismay over what he perceived as the sidelining of “committed workers” in favor of “imported” candidates.

Yadav specifically voiced his discontent regarding the allocation of candidates in several constituencies, notably Jhanjharpur, a seat he has represented five times. Despite his longstanding association with the constituency, it has been assigned to the ally Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP), led by former Bihar minister Mukesh Sahni.

Expressing his frustration, Yadav lamented the perceived intrusion of candidates from other parties, particularly those associated with communalism. He singled out Suman Kumar Mahaseth, a former BJP MLC nominated by VIP as its candidate for Jhanjharpur, as emblematic of this trend.

Yadav’s resignation underscores broader concerns within the RJD about the prioritization of power politics over the interests of dedicated party members. The move highlights growing tensions within the party regarding its strategic alliances and candidate selection process.
