RLD Gears Up for 2024 LS Elections, State Executive Meeting on Dec 5 to Finalize Strategy

The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) is set to hold its state executive meeting in the state capital on December 5 to strategize for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. RLD State President Ramashish Rai announced that the meeting, to be inaugurated by RLD National President Jayant Chaudhary, aims to finalize preparations for contesting a dozen seats in Uttar Pradesh.

The state executive gathering will include sitting and former MPs, MLAs, regional presidents, divisional presidents, and district presidents. The timing of the meeting, just two days after the assembly election results in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan, adds significance to the discussions.

Rai revealed that the RLD has already decided to field candidates for twelve Lok Sabha seats in 2024. The party is actively forming booth committees in the identified constituencies, with the goal of completing the process by January 31.

During the press conference, Rai criticized the state government, highlighting farmers’ discontent over the lack of measures to increase their income amidst rising agricultural input costs. He emphasized the need for a guaranteed minimum support price (MSP) for wheat, paddy, and other crops, along with free electricity for farmers.

Rai also raised concerns about the law and order situation in the state, referencing a recent incident of molestation on the BHU campus in Varanasi. Additionally, he called for the state government to promptly address the demands of Dial 112 women employees regarding salary revision.

As part of their upcoming initiatives, Rai announced that the RLD would launch a series of events on the birth anniversary of the party’s founder and late Prime Minister, Chaudhary Charan Singh, on December 23.
