Russia: Emergency landing of Air India flight going to US , decision taken after technical fault

New Delhi: An Air India flight going from Delhi to San Francisco, USA had to make an emergency landing in Magadan, Russia on Tuesday. Air India said – Due to a sudden engine failure, the aircraft had to be diverted towards Magadan.

Airline company officials said that on June 6, Air India flight AI-173 flew from Delhi to San Francisco. After a technical fault in the engine, it had to be diverted and landed safely at Magadan Airport in Russia.

According to Air India, there were 232 people on board the flight, including 216 passengers and 16 crew members, who are safe. All the facilities are being provided to the passengers. Arrangements are being made for a second plane to take the passengers to San Francisco.

Earlier in April this year, an Air India flight from Chennai to Singapore was diverted to Malaysia due to bad weather. On Sunday, an IndiGo flight going to Dibrugarh in Assam had to make an emergency landing in Guwahati. This was done due to a fault in the plane’s engine. More than 150 people were traveling in the flight. Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameshwar Teli was also included in these. Two BJP MLAs Prashant Phukan and Terash Gowalla were also traveling with him.

On May 24, an Indigo plane touched the runway during landing at Ahmedabad airport and flew back into the air. Passengers sitting in the plane got scared due to the sudden take off. A passenger present in the plane said that it had put the lives of more than 100 passengers in danger. As soon as the wheels of the plane touched the ground, the pilot took the plane back.

The passenger further said that no one understood why this happened. The plane finally landed after circling in the air for 20 minutes. The passenger had complained about the incident to Indigo, DGCA and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
