Sachin Pilot Optimistic as Rajasthan Votes Today: ‘Congress Will Get Another Chance’

Jaipur : Congress leader Sachin Pilot exudes confidence in the prospect of his party securing another chance in the state, emphasizing a shift in the electorate’s mood away from the tradition of alternating governments.

Speaking about the ongoing polls, the former Deputy Chief Minister expressed assurance, stating, “I am confident that Congress will get another chance in the state to return to power. We will garner the necessary numbers to form the government. People here want to vote for those who deliver and stay committed.”

Highlighting the changing sentiment, Pilot added, “The mood of the people here is towards changing the trend of alternating governments this time.”

Downplaying perceived differences with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Pilot emphasized unity within the Congress unit in Rajasthan, stating, “We have worked together for the party. It is not about two or three people. The Congress unit of Rajasthan is united.”

Voting commenced in 199 out of 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan on Saturday after extensive campaigning by major political parties, including the ruling Congress and BJP. Elections in the Karanpur constituency were postponed following the demise of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar. The polling hours are from 7 am to 6 pm.

To ensure a peaceful voting process, a significant deployment of security personnel has been implemented, with 1,02,290 personnel in place. This includes 69,114 police personnel, 32,876 Rajasthan Home Guard, Forest Guard, and RAC personnel, along with 700 companies of CAPF.

Vote counting is scheduled for December 3. In the 2018 elections, Congress won 99 seats, with BJP securing 73. Chief Minister Gehlot assumed office with the support of BSP MLAs and independents.
