Security officer killed as militants ambush sleeping personnel in Moreh, Manipur

Manipur: On Wednesday morning, A security officer was killed in an ambush by suspected militants while they were sleeping at their temporary camp in the border town of Moreh, Manipur. While another injured in this incident.

On early Wednesday morning at around 4 am, armed miscreants ambushed security forces near Ema Kondong Lairembi Devi Mandir while they were sleeping. According to police reports, armed miscreants carried out an attack on security personnel in Manipur, leading to the unfortunate death of one personnel from the CDO (Commando) unit.

Another member of the security force sustained injuries during the incident. The report said that The Assam Rifles, positioned just 20 meters from the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) post that came under the ambush, shielded the area using bullet-proof vehicles and retaliated to protect the IRB personnel.

The miscreants used rocket-propelled grenades (RPG) and live rounds from the hilltop of Chikim Village for the attack. Following the initial attack at Ema Kondong Lairembi IRB Post, the armed miscreants launched another ambush at around 5:10 am, targeting security forces deployed at SBI Bank Building Dekhunai Resort, as per the report.

In this area, the Superintendent of Special Commando sought shelter and the miscreants used a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) from Moreh. During this second ambush, one IRB official sustained injuries and was taken to a medical facility for treatment. Earlier this month, multiple police personnel were injured after an alleged attack by militants in Chavangphai area of Manipur’s Moreh.
