Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and ex Akali Dal MLA Pawan Kumar Tinu joins AAP

CHANDIGARH: On Sunday, Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former MLA from Adampur assembly constituency, Pawan Tinu joined the Aam Aadmi Party in Chandigarh. Party sources said that Tinu is likely to be the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat.

CHANDIGARH: On Sunday, Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former MLA from Adampur assembly constituency, Pawan Tinu joined the Aam Aadmi Party in Chandigarh. Party sources said that Tinu is likely to be the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann welcomed Tinu into the party fold. Along with Pawan Tinu, former district head and former chairman of Planning Board Gurcharan Singh Channi has also joined Aam Aadmi Party.

Pawan Tinu became MLA from Adampur on Akali Dal ticket in the year 2012 and 2017. He has also contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 from Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat. He lost the 2022 assembly polls to Congress nominee Sukhwinder Kotli.

The Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat is currently held by Sushil Rinku, who won the 2023 by-election on an AAP ticket. Rinku was made the AAP candidate from the Jalandhar seat for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, but he quit the party and joined the BJP. Voting for the 13 Lok Sabha seats will be held on June 1.
