Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intensified its crackdown on the Sandeshkhali ED assault case, arresting, Saifuddin Molla, another accused in the attack on ED and CAPF at Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on January 5.
The incident that led to these arrests took place on January 5, when a mob, allegedly led by supporters of Sheikh Shahjahan, ambushed ED officials during a raid related to the ration distribution scam. The situation in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district turned volatile as villagers protested demanding accountability of funds related to MNREGA and housing scheme.
