Tamil Nadu: Holiday declared for Chennai all Schools amid rain, thunderstorms

Tamil Nadu: The District Collector has announced All schools in Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai will have a holiday today November 25 due to heavy rain in the region . According to the Regional Meteorological Center Chennai, the city received heavy rains per mm for 1-2 hours.

Tamil Nadu: The District Collector has announced All schools in Tamil Nadu capital Chennai will have a holiday today November 25 due to heavy rain in the region . According to the Regional Meteorological Center Chennai, the city received heavy rains per mm for 1-2 hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cyclone warning for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the next three hours. The IMD expects moderate rain with scattered demand at one or two places over Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram districts and coastal areas of Villupuram and Cuddalore districts and Puducherry region.

According to a 7 am alert by a weather blogger in the city, while the rains have subsided in most parts of Chennai, they are eyeing the next set of storms which are about 25 km away from the coast. They said, “It is expected to move from east to west, so there is a chance of rain again in some parts of Chennai by 8 am. The exact impact area will be known as the storm approaches.”

Earlier this month, all schools, colleges and educational institutes in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Puducherry districts were closed due to heavy rains in Tamil Nadu on November 15. On November 15, many parts of Tamil Nadu received heavy rains. After heavy rains lashed the coastal and interior districts of Tamil Nadu, several districts declared school holidays.

IMD expects light to moderate rain at many places in India during November 24-27 over Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, Marathwada, Gujarat state on November 25 and 26, Madhya Pradesh with scattered demand and lightning.

On November 26, there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in South Rajasthan, South-West Madhya Pradesh, North Madhya Maharashtra and North Marathwada. Further, light rainfall is also expected at isolated places over the Western Himalayan Region and plains of Northwest India during November 26-28. Heavy rain is expected at isolated places in South-West Madhya Pradesh, North Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat region in November.
