Taranjit Singh, implicated in multiple cases of murder and ransom, faced gunfire from the Anti Gangster Task Force as he tried to escape during police custody. The incident unfolded in Peer Muchalla, Zirakpur, at the same location where weapons were suspected to be hidden.

The active presence of gangsters in Mohali has been a growing concern. In a proactive move in October, the Punjab Police arrested an operative linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in Kharar, Mohali, preventing potential sensational crimes in the state. The arrested individual, identified as Sachin alias Bacchi, was apprehended near the gate of Chandigarh Group of Colleges in Landran by the Anti-Gangster Task Force. Sachin was reportedly involved in providing logistical support to gang members, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.
