To take stock of preparedness amid surge in Covid cases, 2-day nationwide mock drill from Today

The Union Health Ministry said on Sunday that 5357 new cases of corona have been registered in the country in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases has increased to 32814. Due to the death of 11 more patients from Corona, the death toll has increased to 530965.

New Delhi: Mock drills will be organized across the country on April 10 and 11 to take stock of the preparedness in hospitals amidst increasing cases of corona. This is likely to include both government and private health centres.

Mansukh Mandaviya will inspect mock drill in Ijjar
Officials said on Sunday that Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya would visit the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Jhajjar on April 10 to inspect the mock drill. Mansukh Mandaviya had a review meeting with health ministers of all states and union territories on April 7.

He requested the health ministers of the states to visit the hospital and observe the mock drill. The Union Minister had also advised him to review the preparedness with the district administration and health officials on April 8 and 9. He asked the states to be vigilant, increase testing and genome sequencing, keep hospitals ready and stock up on medicines.

The Union Health Ministry said on Sunday that 5,357 new cases of corona have been registered in the country in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases has increased to 32,814. Due to the death of 11 more patients from Corona, the death toll has increased to 5,30,965.

The dead include three patients from Gujarat, two from Himachal Pradesh and one each from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. Besides this, Kerala has added one more case to its tally of dead after re-reconciling the death toll from the infection.

So far 4,47,56,616 people have been infected by this disease in the country. The number of active cases is 0.07 percent of the total infected. The national rate of recovery from Corona has been recorded at 98.74 percent. The death rate is 1.19 percent. Under the nationwide corona vaccination campaign, 220.66 crore doses of anti-corona vaccine have been given so far in the country.
