Senior IPS officer Utkal Ranjan Sahu has taken charge as the Acting Director General of Police in Rajasthan, assuming additional responsibilities as the head of the state police force. This appointment follows the voluntary retirement of Director General of Police Umesh Mishra.
Addressing his new role, Sahu highlighted the police force’s commitment to addressing critical issues. The focus will be on preventing crimes against women, tackling gang-related activities, and addressing the challenges posed by cybercrimes.
Acting DGP Sahu emphasized the need for effective action against gangsters, cybercriminals, and perpetrators of crimes against women. Concrete steps will be taken to prevent crimes against women through dialogue and collaboration with relevant authorities.

Regarding cybercrimes, Sahu urged public vigilance, stating that increased awareness can significantly reduce cyber threats. The police department is actively working to educate the public about cybersecurity issues to enhance community resilience.
Senior police officers, including key figures like Director General (Law and Order) Rajeev Sharma and Director General (Cyber Security) Ravi Mehrada, were present at the police headquarters to welcome and support Sahu in his new role.
