4 Dead, several vehicles under debris from landslide on Gangotri NH in Uttarkashi

Due to the heavy rains in North India, the situation on the mountains has worsened. Somewhere there are flood-like conditions due to rain, and somewhere landslides and boulders are falling. Four pilgrims have died in the boulder that fell on the National Highway in Uttarkashi.

Uttarakhand: Heavy rains have caused devastation in many states of the country at this time. On the one hand, flood-like conditions are prevailing in Himachal due to the increased water level of the rivers, while in Uttarakhand, landslides and big boulders are falling. Four people died in an accident in Uttarkashi on Monday night.

A major accident took place in Uttarkashi, in which boulders fell from the hills near Sunagar on the vehicles of pilgrims returning from Gangotri to Uttarkashi. In this, three passenger vehicles got trapped in the debris. However, with the help of the local people, some passengers were taken out late in the night. According to the information, all the passengers killed in this accident are residents of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, who had gone on a journey to Uttarakhand.

This accident happened on Monday night in the accident on Gangotri National Highway in Uttarkashi. Many passengers were rescued late in the night, but till late night big boulders kept falling and the rescue operation was stopped. Four pilgrims have died in this accident, while more than six people are injured. According to the information, due to rain in Uttarkashi, the situation has become worse. It rains continuously there. Many people are waiting for the highway to open by parking their vehicles.

A red alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department for heavy to very heavy rains in Uttarakhand. There is a possibility of this in many areas of the state. In view of this, orders have been issued to close schools in Dehradun, Tehri, Chamoli, Pauri, Dehradun, Bageshwar, Nainital, Almora, Rudraprayag today. 

Apart from this, a bridge has been washed away due to the explosion of glacier in Malari, due to which 10 villages connecting the India-China border in Chamoli district have lost contact. Apart from this, Badrinath National Highway was broken on Kanchan Nala in Chamoli. On the other hand, due to heavy rains in Kotdwara, Bageshwar, the water level of the rivers has gone above the danger mark. Apart from this, it is raining in Dehradun since this morning.
