In view of this demand of the time, World Laughter Day was started. World Laughter Day is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of May. World Laughter Day was launched in the year 1998. The credit for starting this day goes to Dr. Madan Kataria, the founder of the Hasya Yoga movement. It was he who celebrated World Laughter Day for the first time on 11 January 1998 in Mumbai. Whose aim was to reduce the tension of the society and give them a happy life in the form of humour.
