11 People killed in horrific road accident on China-Vietnam border

Beijing: Chinese authorities say 11 people, including nine Vietnamese, were killed in a road accident on the China-Vietnam border on Friday. This incident is showing human trafficking from the mountain border area. The region trades agricultural products and agricultural labor between Vietnam and Guangxi province, which is economically weaker than other parts of China.

According to the social media account of the local Jingshi county government, one of the dead was a Chinese national, while the nationality of the 11th person has not been confirmed. The government said 14 people were traveling in a vehicle which overturned and fell into a narrow gorge.

It states that the incident is linked to human trafficking. The government said the survivors included the Chinese driver, the Chinese helper and two Vietnamese nationals, and that they were all being questioned.
