2 Customer complaint of illness after consuming foods from Noida McDonald’s, Theobroma sparks probe

Noida: The process of investigation has been started against McDonald’s on the complaint of a customer in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Noida Food and Drugs Association has collected samples from McDonald’s located in Sector 18 and Theobroma Bakery and Cake Shop located in Sector 104. The Food Department team has taken samples of oil, cheese and mayonnaise from McDonald’s.

At the same time, samples have also been collected from Theobroma Bakery and Cake Shop. These samples have been sent to the lab for testing. The complaining customer’s health had deteriorated after eating potato tikki, French fries and cake. A complaint in this regard was lodged on the portal of Noida Food Department. The action was initiated after receiving a complaint on FSSAI’s portal Focus.

FDA Archana Dheeran, assistant commissioner (food), Gautam Buddha Nagar, said that we received a complaint on the portal against McDonald’s. The customer fell ill after eating Aloo Tikki and French Fries. At the same time, a complaint was also received regarding the cake. Action has been initiated on this.

A young man from Noida had ordered online from McDonald’s located in Sector-18. They allege that the potato tikki, burger and French fries sent on the order were the same. He had complained about this on FSSAI’s portal Focus.

After the complaint, last week the department team reached the restaurant to investigate. A sample of cheese and mayonnaise laced with palm oil was taken from the restaurant. These are used in making burgers. In a similar incident, a complaint was also received against Theobroma Bakery and Cake Shop located in Sector 104, Noida. In a complaint lodged on the FSSAI portal and toll free number, a woman said that her health deteriorated after eating the shop’s cake.

The investigation team has taken a sample of pineapple cake from the cake shop. It is being said that further action will be taken after the investigation report comes. In fact, complaints of food adulteration are continuously coming to light in Noida. Recently, during inspection, adulteration has been revealed in samples ranging from cheese to desi ghee and buckwheat flour. Violation of standards came to light in these.

Desi ghee and cheese were even declared unsafe for consumption. Along with this, the administration is not succeeding in stopping the sale of adulterated food items. Many hotels and restaurants are serving stale food. In such a situation, the Food Department has made a policy to act swiftly on complaints.
