Nagpur: In Maharashtra, 96,811 farmers faced exclusion from the ‘Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana’ due to non-linkage of their bank accounts and Aadhaar numbers, as disclosed by State Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde in the legislative assembly. This initiative by the Maharashtra government, designed to supplement financial aid provided under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, encountered obstacles for the mentioned farmers.
Mr. Munde, responding in writing during the ongoing winter session, stated that among the beneficiaries eligible for funds under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, the specified number of bank account holders missed out on the state scheme’s benefits due to the absence of Aadhaar-bank account linkage until October 26 of the current year.
In addressing a query from AIMIM legislator Mufti Mohammad Ismail Abdul Khalik, Minister Munde revealed that ongoing efforts are in place to establish the necessary link between farmers’ bank accounts and Aadhaar numbers. To facilitate this linkage, beneficiaries are required to personally engage with local government offices.
Upon successful completion of the linking process, the scheme’s advantages will be reinstated for the affected farmers, ensuring the seamless continuation of financial support.
