Vistara Pilots’ Protest Sparks Flight Cancellations Across India

New Delhi: Vistara, one of India’s prominent airlines, grapples with a deepening pilot crisis as it cancels at least 38 flights originating from key cities this morning due to pilot unavailability. The airline, which has been struggling with operational disruptions, witnessed the cancellation of 15 flights from Mumbai, 12 from Delhi, and 11 from Bengaluru.

This escalation follows a tumultuous day yesterday when 50 Vistara flights were cancelled, and another 160 faced delays. Passengers, expressing frustration over poor communication and lengthy airport waits, criticized the airline for the ordeal they endured.

In response, Vistara issued a statement attributing the flight disruptions to crew unavailability and various other reasons. The airline assured customers of efforts to minimize inconvenience and temporarily reduce flight operations to ensure network connectivity. Moreover, Vistara announced the deployment of larger aircraft on select domestic routes to accommodate affected passengers.

However, behind the scenes, Vistara pilots reportedly protest against a revised salary structure ahead of the airline’s merger with Air India. Pilots claim they received the revised pay structure via email with short notice and were warned that refusal to sign would exclude them from the merger.

As passengers take to social media to voice their grievances, Vistara reiterates that operational issues are causing delays and assures customers of ongoing efforts to resolve the situation. Passengers are advised to check their flight status with the airline before heading to the airport to avoid further inconvenience and prolonged waits.
