AAP leader Manish Sisodia bail plea dismissed by Delhi court in liquor policy case

New Delhi: On Tuesday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia bail application rejected by a Delhi court in the liqour policy case. His bail was opposed by both the central probe agencies CBI and ED.

After reserving the verdict on his bail plea on April 20, Special judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue Court denied bail to Sisodia. Earlier, the lower court, High Court and Supreme Court had refused to grant bail to Sisodia.

The investigating agency said after opposing the bail plea, “Sisodia is the kingpin of the scam and hence he should not be granted bail. If he is granted bail, he may tamper with the evidence and influence witnesses.” The AAP leader is presently in judicial custody and lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

Sisodia will now approach the high court against the city court’s order rejecting his bail in the cases filed by both the CBI and the ED. Earlier,The judicial custody of Manish Sisodia, co-accused Vijay Nair and others was extended till May 8 in the money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.

Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on February 26, 2023, for his alleged role in the “scam” and subsequently by the ED on March 9 last year. Notably, the lower court, the High Court and the Supreme Court had also refused to grant bail to Manish Sisodia. The AAP leader resigned from the Delhi cabinet on February 28.
