Bhatinda: Another MLA of the Aam Aadmi Party, which came out of the anti-corruption movement, has been arrested on the charge of bribery. Vigilance Bureau of Punjab has arrested Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amit Rattan Kotfatta in a bribery case. Earlier, one of his close friends was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 4 lakh.
The team of Punjab’s Vigilance Bureau reached Bathinda countryside in the early hours of Thursday and arrested Amit Ratan Kotphatta. Vigilance team has also caught Amit Ratan taking bribe and registered a case against him. Earlier, the vigilance team caught his associate Risham Garg while accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh. Risham Garg has also been arrested.
Who is Amit Rattan Kotfatta?
Amit Ratan Kotfatta is a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party. Presently he is MLA from Bathinda Rural Assembly seat. After his arrest, he was taken to the Government Hospital in Bathinda and got medical treatment done. Soon he will be produced in the court and further proceedings will be initiated.
On this action, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has tweeted and said, ‘Bribery will not be tolerated in any way. The people of Punjab have reposed trust and love in me and I will keep it intact. No mercy will be shown to those who eat people’s tax money. Law is equal for all.
