After Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress planning east-to-west yatra: Party GS Jairam Ramesh

New Delhi: After ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ now Congress is considering taking out East to West Yatra between the eastern part of the country and the western part of the country. It is possible that this trip is taken between Pasighat of Arunachal Pradesh to Porbandar of Gujarat. Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh gave this information on Sunday.

Earlier, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi hinted about the trip during his address at the party’s convention. Rahul Gandhi said that party president Mallikarjun Kharge should prepare a program to carry forward ‘Tapasya’, in which everyone is ready to participate. Rahul has named his journey as penance on many occasions.

After the conclusion of the convention, Ramesh said, ‘There is a possibility that this yatra will start from Pasighat and end at Porbandar. There is a lot of excitement and energy about it. Personally, I believe that it is also needed. He said, ‘The format of the journey from east to west is different from the journey taken from south to north. Perhaps this visit should not be on such a wide scale. The Congress General Secretary told that everything will be decided in the next few weeks.

He said that in view of the geographical and climatic conditions of the Northeast, different means of transport (multi-modal) can be used for the yatra, but basically it will be a walk. Ramesh said that the number of passengers participating in this yatra may be less as compared to ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. The ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ started on September 7 last year and was completed in Srinagar on January 30 covering a distance of about 4000 kms. About 200 ‘Bharat Yatris’ including Rahul Gandhi had participated in this.
