Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said on Friday that Kovid-19 is still not over in the country. He has urged Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Haryana and Delhi to be vigilant against laxity at any level. He said that vigilance can play an important role in fighting the corona pandemic.

Let us tell you that since March the country is witnessing a steady increase in the number of Covid-19 cases. On the previous day, 20 April, 10,262 new cases of corona were registered. Along with this, an increase in the infection rate has also been observed across the country. At the end of last week, 5.5 percent positivity rate was recorded. Bhushan said this is a cause for concern, as 4.7 per cent positivity rate was recorded in the previous week till April 19.

The Health Secretary said that at present, with the increase in the corona cases, the infected are not needing to be admitted to the hospital. He said that the number of patients in the hospitals is less. He said that there is a need for intensive monitoring in the states or districts where the infection is increasing at the local level. There is a need to put in place public health measures to deal with any eventuality, he said.

Bhushan said, “It is also important to ensure timely and regular updation of data to aid in accurate monitoring of the situation. It is necessary that the state should keep a strict vigil and, if necessary, monitor the spread of the pandemic in any area.” Preemptive action should be taken to control the spread. Regular surveillance and follow-up of the infection is important.”
