Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to embark on a three-day tour of Gujarat, a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), starting January 6. The visit includes addressing a public meeting, participating in a workers’ conference, and meeting with the incarcerated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA, Chaitra Vasava. This announcement coincides with the expectation of a fourth summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering probe related to alleged irregularities in Delhi’s excise policy.
Arvind Kejriwal Gujarat Visit. Kejriwal’s visit takes on significance as it unfolds amidst the BJP’s criticism following his non-compliance with the third ED summons on Wednesday. The ED, engaged in a money laundering investigation, has expressed concerns that repeated disregard for summons is impeding their probe into the alleged irregularities.
During his stay in Gujarat until January 8, Kejriwal plans to connect with party workers, address a public meeting, and hold discussions with jailed AAP MLA Chaitra Vasava. Vasava, representing Dediapada in the Gujarat assembly, surrendered to the police on December 15 in connection with charges related to alleged threats to forest department personnel and firing a round in the air.
As political dynamics continue to evolve in Gujarat, Kejriwal’s tour signifies AAP’s strategic efforts to strengthen its presence in the state, setting the stage for future political engagements.
