Late on Friday night, a devastating road accident in Bathinda resulted in the loss of two young lives and left two others critically injured. The victims, all students of Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, were traveling in a Honda City when the tragic incident occurred near the newly constructed multi-level parking on Mall Road.
The deceased have been identified as Amandeep Singh, an intern at the institute, and Ranjan Jassal, a second-year MBBS student. The injured students, Saket Yadav and Rytham Bansal, both in their second year of MBBS, were rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
According to Bathinda’s deputy superintendent of police, Kuldeep Singh, the group had taken leave from their hostel to accompany their senior colleague, Amandeep Singh. Unfortunately, the speeding vehicle collided with a road divider before crashing into a unipole near the entry gate of the newly built parking facility. Both Amandeep and Jassal succumbed to their injuries at the accident site. Rytham Bansal’s critical condition led to his referral to Adesh Medical College, while Saket Yadav is reported to be in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that faulty road engineering near the multi-level parking facility on Mall Road might be a significant contributing factor to this tragic accident. Authorities are looking into the matter to ascertain the exact cause and prevent future mishaps.
