BCCI announces annual player retainership for women stars; Deepti and Harmanpreet in Grade A

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has now announced the annual contract for the women’s cricket team. Recently, the contract of the men’s team was revealed. At the same time, the contract of the women’s team led by Harmanpreet Kaur has been confirmed.

The contracts of the women’s cricket team are divided into three grades. However, the men’s team was divided into four grades. A plus grade has not been kept in the women’s cricket team. In this contract, women cricketers are divided into A, B and C grades.

Some time ago BCCI took a historic decision and decided to make the salaries of women and men cricket teams equal. Accordingly, women will also be given 5 crores annually in A grade, 3 crores annually in B grade and 1 crore annually in C grade.

Under this, the A grade includes captain Harmanpreet Kaur along with vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and senior player Deepti Sharma. BCCI contracts a total of 17 women players out of which 3 are in A grade, 5 are in B grade and 9 are in C grade.

Grade B consists of five players Renuka Thakur, Jemima Rodrigues, Shefali Verma, Richa Ghosh and Rajeshwari Gaikwad. Apart from this, nine players Meghna Singh, Devika Vaidya, Sabineni Meghna, Anjali Sarwani, Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana, Radha Yadav, Harleen Deol and Yastika Bhatia have been placed in C grade. This is the first contract after BCCI’s historic decision on equal salary. That is, this time the women’s team is going to get the same amount of money annually as the men for the first time.
