Bhajan Lal Sharma to Be Announced as New Rajasthan CM in Legislative Party Meeting

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced Bhajan Lal Sharma as the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan on Tuesday, marking a significant shift in leadership. This decision comes a day after a similar generational change was implemented in Madhya Pradesh. Representing Sanganer, Sharma currently holds the position of the state general secretary of the BJP.

The announcement follows the MP Cm appointment of Mohan Yadav, a three-time lawmaker, as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. This move signifies a transition from the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who had ruled the state for 16 of the last 18 years over four terms.

While initially, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Union Ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Ashwini Vaishnaw were considered front-runners for the Chief Minister’s post in Rajasthan, the final decision favored Bhajan Lal Sharma. Throughout the day, various names like Kailash Chaudhary, Diya Kumari, and Anita Bhadel were also discussed.

In Chhattisgarh, another state where the BJP secured victory on December 1, the party appointed experienced tribal leader Vishnu Deo Sai as the Chief Minister.

The decision regarding the new Chief Minister was made during the BJP’s legislature party meeting in Rajasthan, with central observers, including Union Minister Rajnath Singh, present during the proceedings.

Bhajan Lal Sharma’s political journey has been marked by unwavering dedication to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Serving as the State General Secretary for the BJP four times, he has demonstrated exceptional organizational skills and leadership acumen within the party.
In the 2023 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election, Bhajan Lal Sharma achieved a significant victory, triumphing over his opponent Pushpendra Bhardwaj of the Indian National Congress by an impressive margin of 48,081 votes. This electoral success paved the way for his first term as the Chief Minister of the state.

Aged 56, Bhajan Lal Sharma is an advocate of education, holding a postgraduate degree. His total declared assets stand at Rs 1.5 crore, comprising Rs 43.6 lakh in movable assets and Rs 1 crore in immovable assets. Maintaining financial transparency, his total declared income is Rs 11.1 lakh, with Rs 6.9 lakh being self-income.
