Big action by NCB and Navy in Kerala; Drugs worth Rs 12 thousand crore seized

Kerala News: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) claims that this is the biggest drug consignment ever. The weight of the seized drugs is around 2500 kg.

In Kerala, NCB and Indian Navy have caught drugs worth 12 thousand crores while running a joint operation. 2500 kg of methamphetamine drugs have been recovered during the raid. This is the first time that such a huge consignment of methamphetamine drugs has been found in India. The Navy has detained a suspected Pakistani national along with the consignment, which is being interrogated. It is being told that the drugs were brought from Afghanistan to Kerala via sea. Apart from NCB, these seizures have taken place on the basis of inputs shared with Sri Lanka and Maldives.

Success achieved under Operation Samudragupt

This entire action was taken under the leadership of NCB Director General Sanjay Kumar Singh. Operation Samudragupt was launched. Officials said a Pakistani national was also detained in the joint raid by the drugs agency and the Indian Navy. This action has been taken under ‘Operation Samudragupt’, a campaign against drug smuggling from Afghanistan to India by sea.

According to NCB officials, about 3200 kg of methamphetamine, 500 kg of heroin and 529 kg of hashish, 221 kg of methamphetamine and 13 kg of heroin were seized in the operation so far. It was brought from Balochistan and Afghanistan.

Mother ship carrying drugs intercepted

According to NCB, methamphetamine is also known as ‘Death Crescent’. Its value in the Indian market has been said to be around Rs 12,000 crore. This is the first time that an Indian agency has intercepted a “mother ship” carrying drugs.
