BJP Leader Amin Pathan from Rajasthan Joins Congress

In a significant political development, Amin Pathan, a veteran BJP leader and former vice-president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, formally joined the Congress on Wednesday. The induction ceremony took place in the presence of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and other senior leaders of the Congress party.

Addressing the media, Mr. Pathan revealed that his association with the Bharatiya Janata Party spanned 25 years, during which he was influenced by the policies of stalwart leaders such as Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, who he credited with fostering unity in the country. However, he expressed discontent with the present state of the BJP, alleging that only individuals from Gujarat and industrial backgrounds were receiving promotion within the party.

Citing a departure from the inclusive ethos of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’ (Together with All, Development for All), Mr. Pathan asserted that the BJP had failed to field a single Muslim candidate in the elections, thereby neglecting a significant section of society. Expressing his disappointment, he declared his decision to quit the BJP and align himself with the Congress.

The seasoned politician emphasized the need for a more inclusive and diverse political landscape and cited his discontent with the alleged marginalization of certain communities within the BJP as a driving force behind his defection to the Congress.

As Rajasthan gears up for elections on November 25, with results slated for declaration on December 3, Amin Pathan’s move adds an intriguing dynamic to the political landscape. The state anticipates a fierce electoral battle between the Congress, aiming to retain power, and the BJP, seeking to reclaim its position. Pathan’s switch underscores the shifting political alliances and strategies as both parties vie for dominance in the upcoming polls .
