BRS leader Kavitha gets a big setback from Rouse Avenue Court, bail plea rejected

New Delhi: On Monday, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court rejected the bail plea of Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader K Kavitha in the excise policy case. The case is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate. K Kavitha was arrested by the ED from Hyderabad on March 15, 2024. She had also sought interim bail for election campaigning.

The BRS leader had said in her petition that there is no apprehension of tampering with any evidence in this case and an attempt to adversely affect the trial. Rejecting the petitions, Special Judge of CBI and ED Court, Kaveri Baveja said that it is not right to give relief at this stage. Kavita is in judicial custody in cases registered by ED and CBI. ED arrested Kavita (46) from her Banjara Hills residence in Hyderabad on March 15 and she is in judicial custody in the case. CBI had arrested her from judicial custody.

Kavitha’s petition said that the CBI has completely relied on the statements of witnesses or her relatives / associates / employees, which is part of a larger conspiracy to tarnish her image and especially to prevent her from campaigning in the current general elections. However, the investigating agencies alleged that K Kavitha was fully involved in the conspiracy related to the scam.

At the same time, CBI had opposed the bail application of poetry and had said that poetry is one of the main conspirators. In the event of being released on bail, they can affect the witnesses and evidence related to this matter. The case check is certainly expected to be affected. So, they should be allowed to stay in judicial custody.
