Three police officials in Tamil Nadu's Chennai were expelled after they thrashed a motorcyclist for not wearing a helmet. The incident unfolded on Sunday (February 18), while the officials were on inspection duty near Koyambedu, a neighbourhood in Chennai.

Chennai: Three police officials in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai were expelled after they thrashed a motorcyclist for not wearing a helmet. The incident unfolded on Sunday (February 18), while the officials were on inspection duty near Koyambedu, a neighbourhood in Chennai.

A motorist, who was not wearing a helmet, was stopped by Sub-Inspector Sakthivel, and Constables Dinesh and Arul.

The rider was also reportedly under the influence of alcohol and entered into an argument with the police officials.

The entire act was filmed by some passers-by, and the video was later shared on social media.

The video showed the cops kicking the rider, while the other officials hit him on his head.

The three police officials were suspended from their duty and an inquiry into the matter was pending.
