Chennai Super Kings jump on top of points table as they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs

Batting first after losing the toss, Chennai scored 235 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. This was CSK's third consecutive win this season. New Delhi: In the 33rd match of IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings have defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs. Batting first after losing the toss, Chennai scored 235 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Ajinkya Rahane played an unbeaten innings for 71 runs in 29 balls. Apart from this Shivam Dubey scored 50 runs off 21 balls and Devon Conway scored 56 runs off 40 balls. In reply, the Kolkata team managed to score 186 runs after losing eight wickets in 20 overs. Jason Roy scored the highest 61 runs in 26 balls.

This was CSK’s third consecutive win this season. With this, the team of Chennai Super Kings has reached the top of the points table. He has 10 points from seven matches with five wins and two losses. At the same time, the Kolkata team has four points in seven matches with two wins and five losses. The team is at the eighth position in the points table.

Batting first, Chennai scored 235 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. This was the highest total of this season. Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 228 runs against KKR at Eden Gardens.

This is Chennai’s third highest score in the IPL. Earlier, Chennai scored 246 runs against Rajasthan in 2010 and 240 runs against Punjab in 2008. The record for the highest total in the IPL is held by Royal Challengers Bangalore. He scored 263 against Pune Warriors in Bengaluru in 2013.

Batting first, Chennai had a poor start. Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway added 73 runs for the first wicket. Suyash Sharma clean bowled Rituraj. He scored 35 runs in 20 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes. Varun Chakraborty then dismissed Conway. He scored his fourth consecutive half-century this season and seventh of his IPL career before being dismissed. Conway was dismissed for 56 off 40 balls with four fours and three sixes.

Chasing a target of 236 runs, the Kolkata team got off to a poor start. The team had lost two wickets for one run. Sunil Narine got out without opening his account. At the same time, N Jagadeesan got out after scoring one run. After this Venkatesh Iyer also couldn’t do anything special and got out after scoring 20 runs in 20 balls.

Skipper Nitish Rana and Jason Roy tried to handle Kolkata’s innings. Both shared a partnership of 24 runs for the fourth wicket. In the process of increasing the run rate, Nitish lost his wicket. He scored 27 runs in 20 balls with four fours and one six.

This was followed by Jason Roy’s storm at Eden Gardens. He scored a half century in 19 balls. However, he lost his wicket after scoring a fifty. Roy scored 61 runs in 26 balls with the help of five fours and five sixes. He shared a partnership of 65 runs for the fifth wicket with Rinku Singh. After this, the batsmen could not do anything special.

Andre Russell scored nine runs in six balls, David Wijs one run, Umesh Yadav got out after scoring four runs. Rinku Singh remained unbeaten by scoring 53 runs in 33 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes. Tushar Deshpande and Mahesh Tikshana took two wickets each from Chennai side. At the same time, Akash Singh, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja and Mathisha Pathirana got one wicket each.
