Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced on Tuesday that the state would observe a ‘dry day’ on January 22 to mark the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. CM Sai emphasized the significance of the occasion, expressing the state’s pride in being the maternal birthplace of Lord Ram’s grandparents, with Chandkhuri considered their home.
Chief Minister Sai remarked, “It is our fortune that Chhattisgarh is the maternal birthplace of Lord Ram, and it is our fortune that the consecration of the Ram temple is going to take place in Ayodhya on January 22.” Drawing a parallel with Diwali, he highlighted that homes across the state would be illuminated with lamps, and in alignment with the festive spirit, January 22 would be declared a dry day throughout Chhattisgarh.
The consecration ceremony, known as Pran-Pratishtha, is scheduled for January 22, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to attend. Vedic rituals for the event will commence on January 16, a week before the main ceremony. The chief priest for the consecration, Lakshmi Kant Dixit from Varanasi, will lead the significant rituals.
As part of the preparations, a 1008 Hundi Mahayagya will be organized, and several tent cities are being established in Ayodhya to accommodate the influx of devotees. The Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust is making arrangements for 10,000-15,000 people to participate in the ceremony. Local authorities are enhancing security measures and logistical arrangements to ensure a smooth and spiritually enriching experience for all attendees during the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony.
