Know more about Mumbai Trans Harbour Link project:

Spanning approximately 22 kilometres, with a sea span of 16.5 kilometres, MTHL is poised to become the longest sea bridge in the world and the longest sea bridge in the country. Starting from Sewri in South Mumbai, it will cross Thane Creek and end at Chirle, located on the outskirts of Navi Mumbai.

The bridge will significantly reduce the travel time between the mainland and the island city to just 20-25 minutes. MTHL is expected to enhance east-west connectivity, facilitating faster transportation of labor and raw materials from Navi Mumbai to Mumbai city, resulting in overall cost savings.

The link will feature interchanges at Sewri in Mumbai and Shivaji Nagar, Jassi, and Chirle on National Highway 4B at the Navi Mumbai end. The project-affected persons have been rehabilitated and the fishermen whose livelihoods have been affected by the implementation of the project have been compensated in accordance with government policies.

In the construction of MTHL, an orthotropic steel deck was employed, making the distance between two pillars three times the normal distance. This construction method is used in sections that serve as navigational channels for large ships.
