Days after Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad schools receive bomb threats via email

AHMEDABAD: On Monday, an official said that three schools in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad received bomb threats through email, causing panic and concern among students, staff and parents.

According to reports, after receiving information about this, the state police and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) teams, are present on the locations and investigating further into the matter.

The incident in Ahmedabad comes days after a series of similar incidents in the Delhi-NCR region, where several schools received bomb threats. Security teams were rushed to various schools who searched their premises while maintaining calm in the presence of students, however, the threat was later turned out to be a hoax.

According to Delhi Police, the Special Cell investigated the mail through CBI with the help of Interpol to identify the person who had sent the mail using mail.ru – i.e. (Russia, with server in Moscow). An official said that the Delhi Police Special Cell registered a case under relevant legal provisions for crimes like conspiracy and intimidation and formed a dedicated team to investigate.
