Deal between universities and pro-palestinian protesters in US to slow down protest

Protests in American universities regarding the Gaza war have slowed down in the past few days. Demonstrations against the Israel-Hamas war have been held at a small number of universities this week after a deal was reached between universities and pro-Palestinian protesters, according to reports. Along with this, there is also less scope for possible disruption in final examinations and graduation convocations in America.

Protests were witnessed in 46 university campuses across the country since April 17 and more than 2,400 people have been arrested in this regard. Meanwhile, Brown, Northwestern and Rutgers universities have reached settlements.

The protests have disrupted classes at some universities, including Columbia and UCLA. Administrators at the University of California, Riverside announced an agreement with protesters Friday to end the protests.

The deals include a number of commitments, one of which is that universities will review their investments in Israel and seek a long-term end to operations with it. Similarly, Rutgers University also announced a settlement with the protesters on Thursday afternoon.

The university agreed to establish an Arab cultural center and not to retaliate against any protesters.
