The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has stirred controversy by claiming that the Election Commission has “banned” its Lok Sabha campaign song titled “Jail Ka Jawab, Vote Se Denge.”
Contrary to AAP’s assertions, the office of the chief electoral officer (CEO) in Delhi has refuted the allegations of a ban on the campaign song. The poll body clarified that the AAP has been instructed to make modifications to comply with electoral regulations.
Upon reviewing AAP’s application for permission to use the campaign song, the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) of the Delhi CEO’s office raised objections. The AAP has been asked to revise the song and submit it again for certification.
In a counter-accusation, the AAP has accused the poll body of succumbing to pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after allegedly receiving a complaint from them.
The AAP introduced its Lok Sabha campaign song, “Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se,” on April 25th. Penned and sung by AAP MLA Dilip Pandey, the song was unveiled at an event held at the party headquarters in Delhi. The campaign theme revolves around the slogan “Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se,” indicating a strong electoral response to the alleged targeting of AAP leaders, particularly Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
