Delhi Environment Minister Directs DPCC to Issue Notice to NBCC for Violating Anti-Dust Norms

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has taken action against the alleged violation of anti-dust norms by the central government-owned construction company NBCC India. The directive, issued on Tuesday, instructs the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to issue a notice to NBCC India for the reported breach of dust control measures at one of their project sites.

As part of the broader initiative to combat air pollution in the capital city, Minister Gopal Rai personally inspected the NBCC construction site located near the Karkardooma Metro Station. During the inspection, several concerns were identified, including the improper disposal of construction waste in open areas and the non-operation of anti-smog guns, which are essential for dust control.

In response to these findings, Minister Rai has directed the DPCC to serve a formal notice to NBCC India, highlighting the violations and requesting an explanation. In a stern message, he emphasized that a monetary penalty will be imposed on the company if they fail to provide a satisfactory response within a strict 24-hour deadline.

The Delhi government has been actively involved in implementing measures to reduce air pollution in the city, particularly focusing on dust control to combat the adverse effects on air quality. This action against NBCC India serves as a reminder of the government’s commitment to enforcing anti-dust norms and holding entities accountable for their environmental responsibilities.

The government aims to ensure that construction activities and industrial processes are carried out in an environmentally responsible manner, contributing to the overall improvement of air quality and the well-being of Delhi’s residents. This latest move is part of a broader strategy to combat air pollution and enhance environmental sustainability in the region.
