Delhi Excise Policy Scam: K Kavitha’s Bail Plea Denied by Court

K Kavitha, a BRS leader, faced rejection of her interim bail plea by a Delhi Court. She was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) from her residence in Hyderabad on March 15 regarding a money laundering case.

K Kavitha’s Bail Plea Denied by Court. Earlier, on April 4, Kavitha had appealed to the court for interim bail, citing her 16-year-old son’s exams and his need for her “moral and emotional support.” The court reserved the order on this plea, which was addressed today (April 8).

Accused of involvement in the “South Group,” which allegedly paid kickbacks to Delhi’s ruling AAP in exchange for a significant portion of liquor licenses, Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, was sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Additionally, Kavitha moved a city court to reconsider its decision allowing the CBI to interrogate her in Tihar jail in connection with the money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy scam.

Her advocate, Nitesh Rana, argued that the CBI’s plea for questioning was filed without her knowledge, alleging a lack of transparency. Rana requested the court to suspend its earlier order until Kavitha’s side is heard. The court, after hearing the submission, scheduled the matter for April 10, as the CBI sought time to respond.

Although the court didn’t reverse its order, Rana emphasized the importance of judicial discipline, urging the probe agency to abstain from executing it while Kavitha’s application remains under consideration.
