Delhi: LG Saxena grants permission for CBI probe in alleged Rs 223 cr corruption

New Delhi: On Wednesday, an official said that Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena (VK Saxena) allowed a CBI probe into the alleged corruption of Rs 223 crore against two officials of the Delhi government’s forest and wildlife department.

LG VK Saxena has also approved the ACB, GNCTD to proceed with the investigation against 2 senior women health officers of a Delhi government-run hospital in an alleged bribery case.

In both the cases, LG VK Saxena approved the proposals for investigation under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption (Investigation) Act. Meanwhile in another corruption-related matter, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal on Wednesday skipped for the third time the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate.

Officials at Raj Niwas said that they said that it is in the interest of justice to investigate and interrogate the accused. The BJP accused Kejriwal of not having faith in the country’s administrative and judicial system after the AAP leader skipped a third ED summons in connection with an excise policy-linked money laundering case.

Like Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh also said that the ED notice was wrong but they had to appear before the agency. BJP’s Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva said, despite efforts today, let alone getting bail, he is getting reprimanded in every court.

He alleged, “The way Kejriwal is avoiding the ED summons, it clearly shows that he does not have faith in the administrative and judicial system of the country and after that the question arises whether he has any reason to remain the Chief Minister. The moral basis is left.”

On Wednesday, Kejriwal sent a written reply to the agency calling the notice illegal. He had earlier ignored the ED’s summons for November 2 and December 21, calling them “illegal” and “politically motivated”.
